Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I try the frames before I purchase them?

We are unable to send frames out unless they have been paid for (the only exception to this is for returning customers – please email us for details).  As online orders may be returned (within 14 days of receipt) for a full refund of the amount paid, you may purchase a frame to try it, safe in the knowledge you can return it if you are not 100% delighted (please see ‘what is your returns policy’).  This allows you to try our frames in the comfort of your own home, in a risk-free way.

I live abroad, are there any stockists near to me?

We partner with a very small number of prestigious independent opticians worldwide, but the majority of our international business is undertaken directly with our patrons via our webshop. To date, we have sent C.W. Dixey & Son frames to over 40 countries, so you may like to consider purchasing from us directly.  As online orders may be returned (within 14 days of receipt) for a full refund of the amount paid, you can purchase a frame safe in the knowledge you can return it if you are not 100% delighted (please see ‘what is your returns policy’).

What is your returns policy?

Please contact us by email (to office@cwdixeyandson.com) if you wish to return your order.  We will provide you with full instructions (postal address, customs information etc.).

We want our patrons to be delighted with their C.W. Dixey & Son purchase.  Online orders may be returned to us (within 14 days of receipt) for a full refund of the amount paid.  Return shipping costs and import taxes (if applicable) are the responsibility of the patron, and are not refundable.  Your order will be refunded when the goods are safely received by us, so we strongly suggest you fully insure the package.  For United Kingdom customs purposes only, the package must be clearly marked as “RETURNED GOODS” with a customs value of GBP £1.

Our full policy is in our ‘website terms and conditions of supply’ which is in the ‘Contact’ section of our website.

Do you supply lenses / can I give you my presciption?

We don’t get involved in the supply of prescription lenses, as it is impossible to achieve a perfect result at a distance.  We suggest patrons visit a good local independent optician for this service.  Our optical frames are supplied with simple clear plastic lenses (for display purposes only), and our sunglasses are supplied with non-prescription sun lenses.

Are your frames easy to add lenses too?

Our frames are very easy to add prescription or sun lenses to. Your optician would be welcome to contact us (office@cwdixeyandson.com) if they have any questions.

Shipping costs

We do not charge outbound shipping costs on online sales.  Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the patron and are not refundable (please see ‘what is your returns policy’).

Who do you use for shipping?

We use Royal Mail International.  It offers insurance and a simple tracking service.  It is slower than DHL/FEDEX/UPS, but considerably cheaper and as reliable.  We are often asked if we can send packages by DHL/FEDEX/UPS.  This may be possible, but it will incur an extra charge.  Please contact us for details.

Do you ship to my country?

We ship to most countries.  However, we may cancel (and refund) your order if we are concerned it will not arrive safely.  Please contact us for details.

What size are your frames?

The size of every C.W. Dixey & Son frame is clearly detailed on our website.  Please visit the “Eyewear” section to see all our frames, and their sizes.

Export price

British sales tax (VAT @ 20%) is not charged if our frames are exported from the United Kingdom.  However, import duties/taxes may be charged to you by the destination country.
